The cast of the Tony award-winning Broadway musicial “FELA!” will be having a special instore performance and signing at Amoeba Records in Hollywood on Wednesday, January 18th.

FELA! starring Broadway’s own Sahr Ngaujah, takes over London’s National Theatre beginning November 6th!

Starting in September, Patti LaBelle will join the cast of FELA! on Broadway! She will be playing the role of Funmilayo, Fela’s mother.

After being promised that the Broadway Production of FELA! would make its way to Lagos, Femi Kuti finally gave in and attended the show at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre.

This week, TIME Magazine selected FELA! as a top pick in their “guide to what you should see and what you should skip — and what you won’t be able to avoid.”

Afrobeat, the hypnotic Nigerian funk style invented by Femi Kuti’s late father Fela Anikulapo Kuti, is poised for world domination now that the Broadway musical FELA! is casting a kinetic spell over theatergoers. With his high-powered ensemble The Positive Force, Femi updates the classic Afrobeat sound with contemporary beats and lyrics that continue the tradition of speaking truth to power while aiming grooves directly to the pelvis.
