They Will Have To Kill Us First || NYC Opening March 4

They Will Have To Kill Us First: Malian Music in Exile opens March 4 at Village East Cinema in NYC, followed by showings in LA and other markets on April 1! For tickets and details on other showings, visit the film’s site here. We’re also very excited to digitally release the film’s soundtrack on March 4. Composed by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the compilation features contributions by Songhoy Blues, Ali Farka Touré and his son Vieux Farka Touré, Toumani Diabaté, Bombino and more.

Enjoy a deleted scene from the documentary here. In the scene, Songhoy Blues collaborate with Nick Zinner on their debut album, Music In Exile. The scene chronicles two different musical forces coming together to create something incredibly dynamic and unprecedented in rock music. The scene was shot by Director Johanna Schwartz in Bamako, Mali in 2014 at the studio of Reggae artist Manjul.
